Crikey. It’s like the bat mobile has been rear ended and wearing the General Lee’s wheels. And they sold nearly 700 of them!

Good news, that looks wrong from pretty much any angle. You wonder how they sold so many and it’s sad that so many Beetles gave their lives for this…..

Maybe I watched too much Wacky Races during the school holidays as I confess the '70s cartoon styling of the Laser 917 was growing on me. Fortunately a cursory analysis of the seating & driving position prevented me doing anything I would live to regret
Realising he wasn't sat on the goldmine he thought it was, the consignor dropped the reserve in the final minutes of the auction. Unsold at $7.5k on BaT in 2022, then selling for $11k on Facebook last year, how did the Laser 917 buck the trend of lower old world prices to sell for €20k? Unconvinced by the argument our trans-Atlantic cousins have more sophisticated taste than Europeans, I'll put it down to rarity & the sense of humour of the VW collector

Underneath those rear lights it’s not a bad car - hot 2.5 vW motor and 5 speed box.
Can’t get past those rear lights though. It looks like a halibut
