Yes , market a bit mad. How many of these "buyers" have ACTUALLY ridden a FS1E ??? ............ there were, and are, relatively terrible ! £5 grand for a "good one". There are still bargains out these if you hunt ... I bought a high miles Honda ST1300 last week , 2007 for well below £1500.
PS you did mean chain cases didn't you .... or have you joined the : I don't check my posts before I send them club ?? Sorry - pet dislike.

Yep, Chain!
These nostalgia things are not totally logical.
Look at the prices of Chopper bikes, Lambrettas etc, all things from by-gone youth, so rose colored glasses rule.
Best way to buy an oldie is after someone else has done all the work...
We will see how this pans -out.
Looked for a Honda 125S before, few if any for sale, most off to auction.
Honda's are really expensive to rebuild, sold both of my CB 175's for just about the cost of the bike and parts and the bikes were both cheap.
My first Lambretta sold for £4K 6 years ago, now around 8 to 10K.
Struggled to sell my 2nd Honda for the cost of the bike and parts, market value had dropped over 5 years.
Will do a light restoration thread over on Members as usual, but should be boring!

Not long to wait!
Hillclimb season ends soon, for me about late Sept, so you can then focus on that beauty.
You sure the front mud guard is right?

Re: O/T Japanese import vehicle delay registration advice
Trying to find some kind of manual for the bike esp simple stuff like oil for 2 T tank etc. Nothing specific to this bike available in English. Wonder if the Haynes manual for the FS1E would be about right?
Slightly worried the seller has gone very quiet about getting the bike to me. At least no money has changed hands!

Re: O/T Japanese import vehicle delay registration advice
At least that one is easy to answer ... just use a good quality 2 stroke oil !!!. Fizzy one is probably as close as you are going to get .... it's mostly common sense anyway.

Re: O/T Japanese import vehicle delay registration advice
If you look hard enough there is plenty on the internet.
Exploded parts diagrams, which are just as good as a manual for where bits go in what order.........
https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/y ... 19421.html
https://japan.webike.net/YAMAHA/YB-1/748/m-spec/
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304776433127 - Contact this person in Japan via Ebay, they are bound to know what else is available to assist in rebuild/parts etc. He may be able to get the English version of this?? - https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Yamaha-Se ... B00MNBGORW
Put the VIN in this when you get it - https://ypec-sss.yamaha-motor.co.jp/ype ... index.html
UK parts supplier -https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/yb-1_%2850cc%29/01
There probably will not be a lot of difference apart from the engine cc of the YB - 50 and the YB 100, as the Japanese market tended to put bigger engines in the smaller bikes, to match various geographical regions. English version of a YB 100 manual is below;
https://cyclememory.org/doc/A-2-0000000 ... 000008.pdf
The YB 50 appears to be an FS1E without the pedals to be classified as a moped in European markets, more so GB. If you ever tried using the pedals you can understand why the Japanese removed them for their own market!
FS1E English manual here - https://www.fs1forum.com/pdf/Yamaha%20F ... Manual.pdf
Plus another link here - https://www.manualslib.com/products/Yam ... 68263.html
YB 100 full service manual in English from S. Africa, exploded views and full part numbers.
https://www.carlsalter.com/mcpdf/Andrew ... %20370.pdf
You might want to buy yourself a copy of this, it is £20, and may need hours of conversation for approval to do so???
http://www.icenicam.org.uk/info/rev0002.html
If you can not get approval to spend £20.00, there is a free Google copy for you to read at bedtime here!

Re: O/T Japanese import vehicle delay registration advice
Thank you both.
I've looked at all those manual versions, wasn't too sure which would be closest to the YB1.
Seems the YB1 is the Yamaha 'odd-ball'.
Will get one as and when/if I get the bike....
Reading a vehicle manual at bed time has been known to happen. I sleep easier after too.

Re: O/T Japanese import vehicle delay registration advice
Been married for 45 years, I know how things work with Mrs Hillclimber!
Permissions far better gamble and keeps me out of A&E.
She fully understands I need something to tinker with that is metal.
DIY and gardens have very little metal so she know how these things go.
My previous 5 bike projects since retiring have been very demanding as you know, I hope this one will be easy to say the least.
My favorite 2 wheeler, I'll never find another like it, but plan to meet the same standard.
