Thanks, James.

Yes, it really does. It's kind of odd, after all these years. I hope he finds more photos.

What's interesting about the crash picture:
Looking at the mess of the car, the post looks in pretty good shape : )
Both the rear quarter window and passenger door glass didn't break... or the rear screen, as that has popped out too

The rear spring plate on the car now, since I've had it, has a weld across it. This explains why but does make me wonder how it drove / handled like this, since it would seemingly make it too rigid with no flex. Been meaning to source a replacement for the last 25 years or so : )

So, quick update.
I told the owner from the 1960s that I'd try to dig out some photos I've taken of my car over the years.
I bought is from Burton on Trent in early July 1996, from a classified ad in the back of Classic Car mag I think, so almost 27 years ago. I can't believe it's been this long. It's a real bummer I've not been able to get it back on the road in that time, but there's still time - just not in my youth any more : (

Anyway, the easiest thing was to upload them all to a gallery online, so that's what i did. They are here if anyone is interested. I've done this also, so that maybe other previous owners might search for the reg no. and find me with more info. The best thing would also be to trace the engine out of that buggy, but I'm not holding my breath:

Thanks very much, Dean. Yes, I agree, No. 5 is amazing. It's going in a frame on my wall. Cheers

Interesting thread, Yes its good to get history on a car you own! My 59A cost me £440 back in 1969 very similar in price to yours! I expect it was in good condition for a 356A as mine was back then 54 years ago. I also have been lucky in getting so much history from its owners in its first 10 years. I sort of bet that original engine might be somewhere.I remember when the beach buggys were around and they all wanted a 356 engine. Just can't see it being just scrapped, hope it turns up for you.
