I agree. All badges, turn signal lenses, engine grille and horn grilles were black for 73. I have a silver 73 and looked into this too since I like gold letters on silver cars but I decided to stick to original black.

i cant beleive the dealers dont match the front and rear up .. its not as if its big money to sort , but it is so plainly wrong for anyone viewing the car & will put many off .

Here’s another nice looking (shiny) big money 911T to chew over the obvious badging anomalies. This one even has an E tach.
The world of the early 911 is becoming blurred and dealers are likely unaware of the details of every model. This one may not even be matching numbers.
They will still take your money though.

The internet has much to blame.

Pages with thousands of members who have often not seen a Classic Porsche in real life spout out about how perfectly restored a certain car is when it's far from it. Same with watches.

Somebody posts a picture of a fake watch (saw 3 posted this weekend) on a Vintage Heuer Facebook page, 4 or 5 people who haven't a clue say how lovely it is and before you know it the content is indexed and it starts getting referenced by people trying to sell a fake.

I'm fortunate to have 4 'prototype' small number Heuer watches which weren't ever circulated through dealers apart form a few test watches going out. I went to a lot of trouble discussing them with the factory as I felt they were 'real' and eventually got this confirmed with an extract from the archives and confirmation Heuer had examples in their vaults. Took a while, had to use a contact or two etc.

Now you just pop it on Social Media and take a few 'experts' comments of - 'that's beautiful, what a rare Heuer' and you use that

That’s interesting Boots. So, what you are saying is my Heuer watch with the slightly different spelling (Hure) and black plastic back plate is probably a replacement and not originally manufactured in the factory? I paid good money for it too because the dealer said it was original (and to be honest it does look pretty much like all the others apart from the odd little detail).

Returning late to this... but based on the comments black all round it is.
For me that rules out signal orange or yellow and opens the door to tangerine or gulf orange. (yes I get that's some heinous hair splitting)
