He did indeed - shared the table with us at the dinner...neilbardsley wrote:When I saw that name I didn't believe it for a second and had to Google check they were referring to another J B!
Didn't he come to Classics at the Castle a few years ago?

Yes, sorry, I know. I was wondering why they just used a last initial, as if no one would ever guess who it is.KS wrote:Not sure if you’re messing or not, but Jürgen Barth.

Wasn't there some debate about one of Jerry Seinfeld's cars a while ago?

What happened in that case? Even the 356 registry thread is quiet

JB was one of the key movers and shakers when working at Porsche over many many years and from what I understand was involved in the verification of historic P cars during his time there too....

In addition, he was 'the Main Man' regarding all things relating to the mandatory FIA Historical Technical Passports for Porsches in historic racing. According to both the FIA as well as the national ASN's JB was the one to talk to if you wanted to get an HTP or if you wanted to get approval to use certain parts on a car with an HTP. I always thought depending on one individual made the process very subjective and led to a high risk of a conflict of interests, as he was formally not representing the FIA, but did work for/with Porsche and was involved in trading racing Porsches as well.

Re: Germans courts on the case
Last I heard, last year some time, European Collectibles we’re trying to get the case thrown out saying the car was sold locally to them to Seinfeld’s car guy in California so Seinfeld couldn’t make a claim in New York. I think that failed. Dunno after that.neilbardsley wrote:What happened in that case? Even the 356 registry thread is quiet

Re: Germans courts on the case
You'd have to have some good lawyers to beat Seinfeld's.....they are on a big retainer and not his first rodeo when it comes to litigation....he doesn't lay down when wronged very easily....

"Das Verfahren gegen zwei Mitangeklagte – einer davon der ehemalige Rennfahrer Jürgen Barth – wurde bereits nach Zahlung einer Geldstrafe von 750 und 7.500 Euro eingestellt. "
loosely translated:
"The proceedings against two co-defendants - one of them the former racing driver Jürgen Barth - were discontinued after they paid a fine of 750 and 7,500 euros."
Who paid what, I don't know.
