Re: 1970T - common speedo fails?
I think the most likely cause is that the gearbox end of the cable isn't in properly. Sorry, I can't remember what the internals look like - I vaguely recall a small gearwheel inside the gearbox end housing, presumably with a slot in it, or driving something with a slot in it, that mates up to the end of the speedo cable (if it is screwed in properly).... also, I think your speedo cable could be different to mine (73' 915 box)...

yeah, mine's a 901. Finally bought myself a jack today so should be able to get under and take a look at some point.deano wrote:I think the most likely cause is that the gearbox end of the cable isn't in properly. 1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Rob,
If it's any help there are two videos from Home built by Jeff on his 911 which show the speedo drive assembly at the gearbox end - hopefully your drive has not detached.
