The feedback seems to fall under - "paint it a period colour of choice, don't worry about any impact on originality or value" Keep it looking like a well loved 60 year old and Get out and drive!
I will start a thread soon with plans and pics etc of progress.

I have a vague recollection of it currently being or having been blue at some point?

Wow, you've a good memory
It was painted BMC clipper blue before it was sliver, so circa 2003
18 July 2004 side passenger
I always quite liked the colour

Hi Greg
Great looking car in any colour, you mentioned that it has it's correct matching engine.
Would love to update your cars details on my personal RHD Registry.
Chassis number and engine number would be great, message me if that helps.
