Are you fabricating the new magnetic slump Neil ?

The ear defenders or plugs isn't just about saving your ears - the noise the grinder makes has an affect on your ability to concentrate on what you are doing (dunno why) - with the sound substantially deadened I find it much easier to focus on the actual cutting

Oh and given previous performance, when you've done it can you post on here to confirm you are not dead and still have most of your extremities

Lots of good and relevant advice. I would add, don’t start the grinder with the disc in contact with the metal. Start it up away from the metal and then move it to the cut. Less risk of damaging the disc and, to a lesser extent, the motor

Haha did exactly that as a teenager to AC/DC. Accelerated out of second and managed to pop it into first.

First piece cut. The grinder scares me. After all this waiting I think I may of got sheet metal that is too thick

0.9mm sheet is the usual default thickness.
