So let me get this right - the man with probably the most encyclopaedic knowledge of cars on the forum wants us to find a very very specific type of car that isn't one of the 20,000 cars he's previously owned and at the right price.

Let's face it Andy if we've heard of it then you've already owned it

How about a Turner? EDIT - hadn't seen Grahams post when it added that. But yes, probably RHD

Honda S800

Fascinating little cars - & I love their 'sewing machine' high-revving engines - but nothing Japanese ticks all the boxes.

Toyota 800

That one does look nice - not sure what the availability of parts would be like outside Japan though.

Plus, being Japanese I think they only made them in RHD

Oooh! A G4 or G12.

Proper giant-killer mid 60s racing history. Relatively affordable.

This has been for sale for a while: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1077420

Last time I spoke to Tom, son of Ivor Walklett they’d still sell you a new G12 chassis and body. Add a Climax, Lotus Twink or pre-crossflow and away you go. I think they may have also run one with a BRM V8 in period if you’re feeling flush. Possibly also a BMW 2.0.

like the G4 as well, and to really fit the criteria, i bet its relatively easy to convert it to LHD.....

What about RS1600/Mexico Escort Mk 1. ....
