Cibie Pallas - my most sheepish question ever?

Those car-bone ones look suspiciously like Eric's, and I must say they're fantastic quality which is not something one can say about modern reproductions of anything very often!

It wouldn't surprise me at all if many (most ?) of the Cibie Pallas lamps being sold as 'original' are in reality those reproduced by René Kremer - they were that good ...

....I might even look at an LED replacement bulbs to take less current through the headlight bights/dip switch, which is where it makes most sense (apparently)....

Feed all the lights via relays with the major electrical load being direct from the alternator and thus remove the load from the ignition switch (a known weak spot).

In case anyone is interested I have a pair of NOS original Pallas lights, brackets and fitting hardware still in primer available. These are not repros and have never been mounted to the best of my knowledge. They are simply ready to paint to your desired colour and use.

Now, think about this........you may not want to but with some judicious wiring you can get the hi-beam circuit to trigger the lo-beam circuit which means you could have ALL beams (low and high) on at once (an old 'trick' from road rallying days)

I was thinking of a separate dash switch for the lamp, independent of all the other lights.

The 'usual' way of wiring in additional lights would be to use the high beam circuit to trigger the relay that feeds the additional lights, as those lights (Pallas in this case) should only be active when the headlights are on high beam. A switch could be incorporated to interrupt the trigger circuit to the relay feeding the additional lights.
