My defense is, I'm not a trader or make a living buying and selling. So I simply asked for views on the state of the market for a specific car, a 69E. This information might help inform me before deciding to spend a large sum of money. Nothing more or less. I'm NOT trying to put up peoples' backs at all. That is not the intention of this forum question.

I thought the forum can be used to ask such questions. Have I missed something?

Stretch, different friend. I bought the three cars from a friend in Tennessee. The 911 is in Ontario where I live.

Yes you have missed something? You are taking information to make a profit. What will you contribute to the DDK? How can you help members here and not just take?

I will give you a specific example. In the past I've asked technical questions for you and tried to help with values. You mentioned in your advert that your 912 was with a Porsche garage near Daventry. I happen to spend the weekends around there so was interested to learn of a Porsche specialist that I didn't know so PMed you (1 or 2 weeks ago)? Have you replied?

Not at all, we encourage healthy discussion and we it fuels the forum.

However the ill feeling on this thread seems to come from a perceived view that you are asking questions, gaining advice with the purpose of buying cars and flipping at a profit.

I can understand that but again you're free to do it - you'll just have to deal with any response it creates or personal opinions it flushes out.

I suppose if it was a first time question of this type it would be understandable to be disgruntled but having just taking the time to scan some your posts including some from a few years back it would seem there is a pattern so i guess that's why some people have been prickly.

Some may see a pattern some may not - personal opinion.

Again no problem but accept the response won't always be a positive one unless you're upfront with your motives

I'm not wading in (much) but to say to you..... this forum, more than any other I've come across, consists largely of genuinely helpful, knowledgeable, decent, well humoured and passionate folk. Interestingly both private enthusiasts and many, many in the trade, who without pushing themselves forward, offer this board amazing detailed "institutional" knowledge.

This issue has gotten many of the level headed folk on here riled....clearly there is a well founded issue in the way you have approached this, and for that reason it should be stopped or changed accordingly. It's in the best interest of this forum that you do so, and to refuse to do so indicates not only your approach, but more importantly your attitude to and respect for this forum very transparently.

Personally I blame the long spell of hot weather for sending everyone fruit loop!.....we're just not used to it!

It used to be the dark, wet, slush and snow that caused problems but currently people are crashing vans left, right and centre!.......it's making me depressed!

There are better things to focus on. Lots of interesting threads and good chat, if you don’t like it, why not just move on. If everyone moved on, the thread would die. I find the moaners just as irritating.

I thought the OP was asking a simple question on a value for a car and read with interest as to what people thought.

Thanks for input and feedback. I’ve been on DDK for many years. Mostly as a guy with a need for technical advice and support. And I’ve been helped by folks gratuitous enough to offer their expert help

I’ve also tried my best to share my knowledge too, when I see a post that I feel I can contribute to.

But life moves on. My passion for the brand means I’ve had the opportunity to buy some cars and try and sell them. Hopefully, but not always, turn a small profit. I personally don’t see an issue with that. Others here obviously do. It’s not my profession to buy and sell cars. I have a full time job in Toronto. If I come across a car that I think is ‘cheap’ in Canada, my mind goes to ‘can I buy it, ship it, sell it’.

As I’m not in the UK now, so thought, I post up a simple question on forum member views on values.

Seems I did the wrong thing. Just can’t see it myself. I’ll post up my history. So everyone can see I’m not a trader.

Joined 6 years ago. 274 posts. Vast majority have nothing to do with buying and selling cars.

Miffed. Yes. I think I’ll not buy the 69E and take the financial risk of spending $100k USD to then ship it to the UK. Let’s leave this car in Canada.
