I think there is a bit of confusion here re lights for Australia.
The lenses for Australia were as Mike's second photo, with burn mark, and not as he
has them in the first, included with Italy.
You can see them clearly in Merv's post that shows them on his car.
The larger amber lenses are on the outside edges.
As for the lights themselves, the amber part contains a single filament
bulb, that operates on the brake light, or the flasher. If you have the flasher
on, you don't have a brake light for that side.
The red tail light lens contains a single filament bulb that is just tail light.
Any variation on this has been modified, and many cars have been in the interests
of more safety.
As far as I am aware, this is the same situation for the UK.
My brother's T5 B, an original UK delivered car, is the same as my T2 A, an original
Australian delivered car. Neither car has ever been modified.
I hope this has been some help, and only posted in the interests of accuracy.
