Rear Lights Australia to UK

I think there is a bit of confusion here re lights for Australia.
The lenses for Australia were as Mike's second photo, with burn mark, and not as he
has them in the first, included with Italy.
You can see them clearly in Merv's post that shows them on his car.
The larger amber lenses are on the outside edges.

As for the lights themselves, the amber part contains a single filament
bulb, that operates on the brake light, or the flasher. If you have the flasher
on, you don't have a brake light for that side.
The red tail light lens contains a single filament bulb that is just tail light.

Any variation on this has been modified, and many cars have been in the interests
of more safety.

As far as I am aware, this is the same situation for the UK.
My brother's T5 B, an original UK delivered car, is the same as my T2 A, an original
Australian delivered car. Neither car has ever been modified.

I hope this has been some help, and only posted in the interests of accuracy.

There IS confusion, in that, nobody in AUS seems to have what Porsche claim are the original Lens/Light configuration

1) - The Parts Books clearly identify different Lights and Lenses for Australia and Italy - (Check it out)

2) - The Wiring Diagrams show and extra wire for Australia and Italy to accommodate this light difference from the Rest of the World - (Check it out)

3) - Did these lights really exist ? – Well I own a set of ORIGINAL and marked SWF Lenses with the colours reversed (Large Red – Small Amber)

The information in the Parts Books is NOT in the Jan 57 Book but is clearly mentioned in the January 1960 Parts Book - The Complete Lights - The Separate Lenses and the necessary Twin Filament Bulbs

So it sounds like a change somewhere between the First 100 series cars (Mid 57) and the early 1960 cars

Mike that lens 'may' indeed have been used in Italy, but I have not ever seen them here in Australia. The Italian government had some different regulations from most nations at the time. I also have it on good authority that they required a side repeater for the indicators there on some early Porsches.

My frames are SWFK 3260 and the lens K22375 as in the Euro types.

I wonder if some of the occasional lens melting/burning is not actually due to the reduced distance between the lens and the bulb in the Aust wiring configuration (brake and park twin filament) that we have. But instead to the use of the larger 6V globes on some of the newer replacement bulbs ( I have a box of original bulbs and they are smaller in the globe than some the ones we can now buy)? I also wonder if it is due to people using higher wattage than the original bulbs or the use of 12V systems?
