My poem for this thread!

Spend less money
Get more Power
Bite the watercooled bullet
Go Subaru!

...... seriously, dont get me wrong I LOVE aircooled motors, a lovely big capacity type four or genetically modified waserboxer engine (to run aircooled -Laurie Petit's the man for this stuff) are really nice but for hte money you have to spend and it wont last as long and will take a lot more maintainance compared with any of the subaru flat 4 engines. From a 110bhp 1.8 N/A engine to the big 3L plus monster turbos hundreds of hp, its all been done in vws and replicas. worth thinking about.

I'm putting a 1.8L Turbo in my 356 replica, almost ready, 140hp in a fairly light car -gonna be fun!

In theory - yes!
But for me I'm afraid it's a case of head says 'yes' whilst the heart says 'no'
And me? I'm ruled by the heart!

There is definately a psychological hurdle to overcome but once the conceptual victory is won the power is endless!

then again if you can afford to be a soul man then very cool, I think I would too! :D

I'm hoping for (and expecting) many years of service from my 2270cc Type IV engine that was built by Jake Raby.

Expected life, at that cc, was why I went Type IV over Type I.

Its a real corker! 8)

DTM, Down The Middle, Raby's own I think? mean't to have better cooling/air distribution than a 911/T4 setup. Raby's the big T4 specialist across the pond and does a massive amount of testing and R&D on Type 4s

well worth a read:

Nice motor, very nice indeed, I'm sure if its built well it's gonna last a long time but will still need looking after. Lovely.
