^ what he said. Green 'tell tale' only lights with sidelights, not dip or main.
While you're in there, fit an inline fuse to the gauge lighting feed.

Yes, I think I did have the bulb holders mixed, but all ok now.
Finding the power lead to the gauges may be a challenge, terrible mess behind the dash as ever, but take your point.
Wouldn't though the main bullet fuse save the day?

I'll get that done, esp as I now know it is a 3A rating.
Odd there is no fuse in this line.
