Sales of individual models here don't reflect the patterns elsewhere, with the BT6 being among the smallest group (44). Economic conditions at the time are cited as a major factor, with the car equalling the cost of a metropolitan house at the time.
I was at a 356 meet /concours in the early 2000s in Melbourne ... there were over 100 cars there ... 4 or 5 were 912s and from memory about 10% were LHD ...so a good 80 + RHD 356s in one City in Aus (Melbourne has many more than Sydney and theres a handful in Brisbane Adelaide and Perth)
That yr also had the original museum car present ...I'm sure I have pictures somewhere .

Best place to buy a 356 in the 50's Hig was Australia. That demon rust caused havoc and really still does if you wake it up with a few downpours. The hidden areas of bodywork where without removing everything to get at, is just waiting for rain. I attach maybe my 2nd try ever with ' postimage.org' a photo of my RHD car. Gave up on photobucket.
Maybe it will work?

Yep, each year there is the popular 356 Parade, held in Melbourne. Cars from all over the country make the long journey to this increasingly popular event. The Australian 356 Register does a nice Facebook review on the event. The distribution of the cars is broadly from across the country and even in our small Sunshine Coast community in Queensland we easily count around 9-10 cars from '53 to '64.

Given the data above about the number of dealer-sold RHD cars here, many of the now RHD cars would be conversions of course, or other imports. Some original RHD South African cars seem to be finding their way here too.

Yes Rob same as your one, Meissen with Red interior. Notice you also had a Durant mirror on the door.
One of the few non-original items on my car that were only fitted on ' C' models and 911 but I am pleased to have.

There have been some delays I'm afraid, personal circumstances have changed shall we say but nothing that can't be overcome. :)
When we are back on track and have a date, Mike or I will certainly announce it.

They keep coming out of the woodwork though, people see the big money some cars go for and think theirs is worth the same.
