Neil,

Right at the beginning of this thread I mentioned IF.... everything is perfect even with the latest fuel the car should start quite easily without any modifications. Not saying they are not useful, or that an electric pump is not a good option to get fuel up to then carbs quickly if its been left, because I think it is.

But ... directly the starter is suspect, the carbs are out of tune, the ignition is not perfect, including all items like the spark plugs, and as well as PERFECT earths everywhere with a good battery then the old fashioned 6volt system will be a problem.

I tell you again, it was the best £240- I have ever spent on a car getting my starter repaired so well by Broadway electrics in Essex. The difference is a joy to listen to. That one item alone drove me to distraction almost!
