Hi

sorry your right on the width Im not sure if 185 was an option. I had Marks old wheels so took the same size of tyre he had, I thought they were standard. I think the extra 20mm was simply to get more rubber on the road.

thanks

Andrew

That makes sense. I think that the 195s are a bit big, but that means 5 new tyres if I change.

Hi

I would suggest taking Porsche s recommendation that they have recently done. Porsche are homologating the Pirelli Cinturato range of tyres for their classic cars.

The Avon CR6ZZ are great tyres http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/avon-cr6zz

But Porsche have tested the CN36 range and given them their seal of approval with the N4 marking

So out of interest, what is the right size for a 1975 914?

The 1975 914 was fitted with 5½ J x 15 rims and the original tyre size fitted at the factory was:

1.8 : 165/80 SR 15

2.0 : 165/80 HR 15

Great guide from Porsche, but it doesn't list the 914 (914/4), just the 914/6

I went cheapskate and went 185/65 in the end. Let's hope we don't scrape on the ground too much!

Maybe they forgot they had made a 4 cylinder one

However i don't suppose it matters because they fitted the same tyre
