That is a proper road trip.

Absolutely gutted not to be able to make it, but it was always going to be a struggle.

The trip has started. I met Mike this afternoon at a wet and cold Abington Services to get my luggage in the car and that's him heading to London. He should be there tomorrow afternoon.

Got a text from Mike yesterday evening, car came to a sputtering halt a mile from Southwaite Services. Car recovered to Mike Bainbridge's with a suspected fuel pump problem.....

Text this morning saying that it was a faulty/stuck fuel sender, so he had run out of fuel. I was thinking that was what we would be doing in France

Back on the road again!

Has Mike rejoined on plan now then?

Good start - you need incidents like that to make it a true road trip

We actually leave the UK at lunchtime on Monday. Mike started 'early' as he has a wedding to attend in London this weekend.
Best to get any problems out of the way nice and early with this kind of adventure, so Mike has done us all a favour with this little hiccup.

Bet he feels a bit silly... I mean, what kind of fool would run out of fuel and need to ask for help?

Getting in some early practice for the (fuel-free) drive through France?

I'm going through France to Switzerland in 10 days time.
Could do with Fuel Reports please through north France.

You'll be fine for fuel, apparently you get really good mpg in a Boxster

I drove a car this morning that was showing 0.6mpg for a while!

Get it right!

37.2 mpg; hoofed it today going to Ludlow, 35.8.
My carefully driven Boxster is the greenest car in this place....
