I hope you're going to be updating this thread and keeping us to date on progress. Can't wait to meet it in the flesh. Have you had a cheeky spin around the block in it much yet? If so, how is she? Make sure you under seal it asap if you can as it's been in a dry dusty environment in Texas it will have a shock being in the cold and damp of UK. Even though you might not see any sign of light rust underneath at the moment cos it's all dry and clean, give it a few months in the UK. Under seal it sooner rather than later.

Up nice and early this morning... MOT day!

I had booked the car in, knowing that the seat belts were a likely fail: passenger side inertia reel is no good, and to see what other things might need doing, and that I had not considered.
14 days to sort those out, and come back and get a re-test.

More to the point, it meant I got to drive the thing for the first time. Just 4 or 5 miles there and back, but enough for starters.
The car started right up, and was happy from the off.

A fun - noisy! - squirt the long way around the park and then the keys went to Vinnie, my friendly MOT fella - 27 years old and saving up for a Chesil speedster.



Did I say I expected the car to fail? Well it only went and passed

Vinnie's seeing eye gave one advisory (rear lights dim a bit in time with the indicators).
And his blind eye missed the non functioning (hopefully empty) washer jets/pump, and the aforementioned passenger seatbelt.
Thanks again to Robster for that last item: I had Rob's old belts on the passenger seat to show my good intentions to fix the situation.

Now I need to complete the faffing DVLA documents, wait for the reg to come through, and I can finally take the boy for his first ride... He's keen!

Haha. The loud pedal got a firm prod or two, yes indeed. And the first impression was... it's going to be quick!
Yes the currently fitted tyres are a bit hard, and the road was a bit green yesterday morning.
But it was remarkably (worryingly) easy to get the car to squirm around



As if it wasn't obvious already, all the extra power and weight from the 3.0, mounted in a little car like this...?

Driving it with any kind of enthusiasm it on 6x15s could frankly be a bit dangerous.
It certainly isn't enough rubber on the road to use the full potential of the set up.

So the mind is made up: GT arches will be welded on, with 7s and 8s on sticky rubber.

Kumho V70 soft compound, last about 3000 road miles but sure do stick.

It would be interesting to put such tyres on the rims you have first? (they are good but v expensive)
