Nooooo! Don't do Gulf on a 914/6. If you're going to do a period livery, go Sonauto!

if it's a genuine 6, I'd leave it alone - buy a 4 cylinder car and build it as you wish!

Yes - don't do it if it's an original 6 - keep it original and it will be worth much more in long run.

If you want to to the gulf thing get a 4 that's been converted and do it to that

I agree with both of the above. Originals are rare and to be treasured...

Mavericks!

Boring old square person that I am, I fancy the idea of doing an El Chucho but then the comments above kick in and I think... originality. Thus with a -6, I think I'd do a DarrenC. 4s are far cheaper/numerous and so have fun with that.

Had a good chat with Kevin today and listened to the comments above and think we will go back to plan B and do the 914/6 GT (Gulf) replica with our 1971 standard shell and 6 engine.

Will restore the 6 after that but are thinking of changing the colour as neither of us are keen on the blue. Any views?

Good decision on keeping the new addition original.

I passed on some real 6s when I was looking, as I knew to GT those would neither make sense in my role as "caretaker", nor would it from a long term investment point of view.

But... If it is the cars original colour, keep the blue!
Not only will that be better for investment (boring reason), it is a Great Colour, and you don't see many teeners in that shade.

Good plan guys! Did you sell on the LE you were having restored in the US in the end or is that still heading your way? If you're not careful you'll be taking Kevins crown for owning the most UK 914's.

We were made an offer we couldn't refuse and sold her once completed to a guy in New Zealand.

Sounds like the right decision to me with the new build.

re the /6 - if blue was the original colour, I'd keep that.

Keep the blue if it's original. I actually like that colour a lot though
