As fully discussed above, it's not going to help against serious criminals, but still a bit of a no-brainer?

Shame the battery only last five days before needing to be recharged, so not really much use if your car is tucked away in storage.

I’ve got one of these trackers. I think the best feature is the vibration sensor. Opening and closing the door is enough for it to fire an alert to my phone & SMS. So unless they are cloaking the GSM signal before they get in the car it will have triggered when they open the door.

It is also nice if you’ve parked the car somewhere to know if someone has knocked it. I found a nice painter and decorator reversed into my car like that. Luckily it was onto the rubber bit of the impact bumper. So no damage done.

I’ve had mine 2 years + and it’s been faultless. Costs about £10 every few months in PAYG credit and the battery lasts about 3-4 weeks on the dormant type settings (only poll every 12 hours or if vibration triggers). Bargain I think.

So which one have you got Lewis? Is it the Voda phone one?

What's the name of the product that includes a motion sensor? Or is it standard in all?

Just updating this thread as I have some relevant info... My insurers required me to install a tracker so I found this thread useful - and if I had more time on my hands, I'd have probably installed the more sophisticated Chinese item having vibration detection which could be valuable in the event of car park bumps etc. But after some research I elected to go for simplicity of installation and initially was going to get this one which you simply clip on your battery terminals.

It's only £4.72 a month and the initial cost is minimal, and you don't get any easier than clipping on the battery terminals. Also, I was attracted to how small and inobtruse it is. Fitted carefully, it could easily go unnoticed for a period of time.

But then I spotted they also have this one - which is the same unit PLUS it has an ignition disable wire, but it works equally well without that wire connected. I'll be installing it soon (NOT clipped directly onto the battery) and will let you know how it goes.

Peg is for size and to hide the activation numbers.
