Rings I already have (bought from James a couple of years back) chain ramps have already been done. I'm only replacing the chains to eliminate the split link I used last time.

Pacing it is the way to go Brendan! Hence I bought the SSIs already as they cost as much as the rest of the parts!

Have you checked the valve stems yet Gary?
On my latest rebuild I was surprised (and a tad depressed) to find all of the inlet and exhaust valves were worn below spec even though the rest of the internals looked good. The valve springs were fine.
I found the same sort of price level and spread on the valves as you have above.

Another vote for Joma - I've used them for a while and they are easy and great to deal with. I've also used Rose Passion with no problem. Often in both cases the parts are Porsche originals,

Hi Gary - sounds like we are compiling similar lists.

I would also recommend RosePassion who I have used and seem quite competitive.

Also worth considering CarPart4Less who have some of the parts you need.
Valve guides are £3.22 each, their valves ( Intervalve ) seem reasonable value, chain ramps £2+ each etc..
They also have a few voucher discounts running on their website so you can save more.

Thanks Mick, No I've not measured the valves yet. I was saving that potential joy for another day. There maybe a judgement call to make depending on just how far out they end up being.

have you bought your oil tank yet? i see youve listed 1972, if its for a 72 oil klapper (oil flap, special 1 year tank), then here is a link to a £350ish one (new) in germany.

Design911 are showing both inlets and outlets on their site for £42/£58 respectively - which is a little cheaper I think.
They also have a discount code somewhere on their facebook page to reduce it further - this may help.

Thanks! I used to check Design911 always when living there but now due to stronger sterling I haven't (but I should ). But I believe those are S and T valves (larger than was used in 64-67) and suprisingly those are cheaper, its these 39mm inlet / 35mm exhaust valves that are bit more expensive (looks like Design911 doesn't list them, I might be wrong though).
