The interior was straightforward, but not easy. I am really fortunate to have Garry both nearby, and regularly in need of a part or a favour, so I can edge my way into his now very tight schedule (for very good reasons).

We went for his trademark Houndstooth interior, with completely refurbished 'comfort' Recaros

The rear quarter side panels were shot (and holed by speakers, and with no inertia reels), so I made a new pair and applied Garry's beautifully stitched/ribbed vinyl covers. A bit of invention was required for the seat belt slots, but I think they came out spot on. The rear shelf needed lots of flattening, and is still a bit wavy, and Garry's 'salt & pepper' carpet fitted really well

Even the targa roof fitted as well as I've seen

All it needed was an absolutely perfectly 'patina'd' Birtwistle badge ... Thank you Mike!

So all done

and off for its MoT. Only 4 miles along country lanes, but those first drives are always a tad nerve-wracking ...but the drive back was bloody marvellous!

So did they buy or did they fly .....?

Well as they're both astute businessmen (and old school friends) what do you think .... the bastards held me to the contract!
So out she came today,

With lots of photos and cups of tea while we waited for the transporter (it will be a while before the UK registration is processed and I need my garage back!)

and off she went. As with all my work the warranty extends to the end of my drive, so it's all theirs now!
Great blokes to deal with, and I hope they have a lot of good times in the car. It drove really well on the way to the MoT and back and I think it will be a great general driving car.

Back to sorting my own cars for a while ...... hope you enjoyed the tale. There is no better place to tell it than here. 3 years in 2 pages!

Mick

Fantastic read Mick. If Mike suppliers you with another badge can you do the same for his Targa :)

I'm definitely using Mick for the rear window. He knows what he's doing now.

Great read Mick. Another three years slipped by. No wonder you are hardly on here now!

Off to France for a rest I suspect. Then on to the next project?

Regards
Mike
