Any tips of the trade ?
We have all done this :)

If the magnetic tool or claw don't work try turning the car upside down and shaking it out?

Thanks chaps, I've now bought a long nose grippy thing (as per Bootsy's nose) and I've tried the telescopic magnet thingy......none of which have worked. The tinware is welded in with old bolts....

Arrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody cars !!!

Ok, good, this is going well. Time for phase three.

After trying the Bootsy nose grips and the extendable magnetic pokey thing you must go and find the most powerful vacuum cleaner you can lay you hands on and suck the fuchr out.

Correct choice of nozzle will be crucial.

Good luck.

With a divorce and a significant seperation under my belt you don't need to tell me that. I'll never give up trying though.

And for the record can I state that I neither have an extendable nose or partake in sexual gratification using mole grip type devices.

Take the fan off and the alternator out and you can get a much better view inside. Probably enough space to pull it out?

Take the fan and the alternator off ? This is not going to go well I was only changing the bloody spark plug leads and it looks like I need to take half my engine apart !!!!!

Hells bells !!

And that picture looks like the inside of Apollo 14's engines !!!! And we all know what happened there "Houston we have a problem"! Eek !

It's a pain but it only takes 20-30 mins to get them off. However if the lost plug is on the left side don't bother because the oil cooler is in the way

It's a 912 engine - not a 911 as your pic shows... ;)

I was going to say thats a 911 fan housing..

to be honest fit a new one.. I once had a 12 motor that I took apart to do a big service on and ( fresh in from the US ) it had 2 spare spark plugs in the fins of the heads clearly lost over time and some one just fitted new ones.. so your not alone in your plug loss.. clearly your better getting them out.. if you stuck leave them and do it when you drop the motor out..

I am not sure if chucking in two extra spark plugs was some attempt to make it a 6 cylinder LOL
