DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Valeo bought out the Cibie brand and produce headlights under the Valeo name but with Cibie lenses.

I needed a set of 7" headlight units as fitted to most 60's ford and they came with Cibie lenses.

Most local motor factors have a Valeo catalogue - it might be a long shot but see if Valeo list 912 headlights and you may just get a set with Cibie lenses.

Looking at the glass on Mark’s and the ones for sale, they seem ‘unidirectional’ there does not appear to be lens pattern one side or the other - just the same pattern in the middle of the lens - might be wrong?

Lovely leather and dog tooth all the way from Italy. They will replace these



The current seats are very snug and continuing with the theme of transforming to a GT from a lite weight these seats are a little wider and higher so will hopefully be more comfortable over longer journeys. Popped one in to se how it looks.



Hopefully I'm picking up a stock interior from another member which I'll get recovered for an alternative look down the line as well as being able to put rear seats in.

I did about 50 miles yesterday - the car is great to drive, handling is good but will benefit from a front end overhaul, engine pulls well and is strong through the gears but idle is lumpy. The generator bearing is shot so is noisy. The windows rattle like hell - this is a major PITA and needs sorting. Being on straps without regulators means there is just too much room, also the drivers strap has stretched so the window doesn't quite close. It's on the list as a winter job. All said and done though I absolutely love blasting around in it.

Are those new seats from D'Eser? I wonder if you had compared those to the ones from Rennsport at all and if so the reason for your choice?

I've got a similar pair but basket weave centres from rennsport.

Love them!

They're great seats, I didn't compare to the Rennsports it was situational as I picked up an order from another member. I have to say though they are very nice, look good and quality is spot on.

I've had a productive day or two on the 12 and getting closer to finding a direction for the interim look of the car. Long term it will almost certainly get restored but in the mean time I'm going for a touring version. Rear seats are a must for now as I justify spending time on my car projects by involving my kids. I managed to pick up a pair of back rests with the BF's but a very helpful DDK'er helped me out with this full set of which I'll use the rears immediately and keep the fronts on hand for down the line.







I also got a very useful tutorial on window regulators and the differences over the years, obviously mine are early versions with round holes on the window channel and narrow bolt pattern on the door, I'll be 'upgrading' these to later versions with square receivers and wider bolt pattern as it will be a lot cheaper to do it this way.

At least my camper van now has a Porsche interior! (or two)



Having been on holiday for a week in rainy Norfolk I've managed to spend a lot of time catching up on other peoples projects. Two main things I've taken away are the quality and level of detail these projects are taken to and secondly the photographing of the work, I'm not sure I'll get anywhere close on either level but as the old joke goes, he may be ugly but he's all mine!

I'm still not sure on wheels but I recently picked up a set of unrestored deep 6's with hearts. 3 of them have been painted, one looks untouched, just patina and the fifth has been powder coated.











So out came the nitromours

then a good clean over with cellulose thinners and ended up with these









the powder coated one is a work in progress - it looks as if it was blasted then coated, so done properly worst luck. They'll all need a proper refurbishment down the line, the petals have been keyed for paint but you can still see the paint lines which will be useful for reference.

Of course I had to do a quick trial fit.





Unfortunately the wheel I picked had a tyre that wouldn't hold air but it gave me the idea. I love the way the deep 6 fills the arch as opposed to the repro gas burners. I also think I might get away with the patina look for a while.
