Not been quite as organised as I'd like, but have finally got round to uploading some photos of progress on the Speedster. Bodywork is finished at the hands of Lionel's Bodyshop. Lionel (Richard Clark) and his team are just superb. They've finished the car to such a high standard, it almost seems a shame to paint it. But paint it we will ...in acquamarine blue non-metallic, with a red interior. Probably beige/oat carpets, but interested in opinions on red carpet with red seats. The car was originally speedster white and I can't tell you how much time I've spent worrying about whether to go for the original spec or my own choice. I won.
Engine will be a 1965 912 unit, 1720cc, probably a Neutek SX2 cam, full flow oil filtration, Solex PII carbs. Not sure about exhaust just yet - polite to the neighbours or not?! Correct engine will sit on the shelf.
I'm going without rocker deco trim, no bumper overriders and GT trim (shortened and rounded off at the ends rather than wrapped round the bumpers). Also dispensing with tenax fasteners. Lionel has fabricated some bloody marvelous hoops (see the pics) which will be used to secure various roof options - a metal rear tonneau, a fabric tonneau and a plastic hardtop that came with the car when I bought it. Not expecting to use the hood very often! Thinking black for the hardtop...?

I think the contrast of Oat carpets would work well rather than red / red

Looks great, lovely job on the properly molested dash. Well done for painting it the colour you want too, that's a tough call..

+1 . Saw a RHD A coupe in these colours ( non metaliic Aquamarine + red vinyl seats + oatmeal carpets as per its CoA ) a couple of years ago when the Reivers were offering it , looked just right.

I like red/red. Oatmeal and red is a bit old man for your outlawish look, but hey I might be biased.

The car looks very nice indeed, I like oatmeal and red never got fed up with it in 50 years but like Paul just advised it suits this old bloke.
Well done indeed.
