Lights, horn and screen washers sorted. Centre handbrake installed, mot passed today with no advisories. Sitting here filling in the V55/5 with a big grin on my face !

Engine is still running a bit lumpy and I think I need a local expert to look at the PMO's.

How did you do the centre handbrake in the end?

Let me know when you're ready for a 914 track day and we'll get it organised :P There's nothing better than driving these things all guns blazing on a track.

I used a 964 handbrake lever, two 914 right hand brake cables, and two PMB 914-6 replica calipers. Not the cheapest way to do it, but a neat solution which works very well.

A track day would be good :-)

I've tried very hard, but it was impossible to drive the car on the road with the motor in racing spec, it popped and banged, spit flames and refused to run properly at under 2000 rpm. So it went off to Redtek for a rebuild into a more user friendly unit. They found all kinds of issues, however here it is just about ready to go back in the car.

Love following your thread James. Are you really going for a stock exhaust ? I am going to fit a Turbo Thomas gt2 I think.

Yes... At least for now anyway.

Truth be told I have really damaged my hearing: I was DJing in clubs and warehouses for most of the 90s, and have been going to motor racing events all my life.
Combine that with lots of long tours in various classic cars, and I am almost completely deaf in one ear and have tinnitus in both!

Plan for the 914 would be one day in future to get a 2 in 3 out. No hurry though....

Hi Ian,

I need to run it in gently, so a careful jaunt down to Andover for a cuppa would be great .

Cheers

Tony
