Of all the cool stuff I've purchased for my Mongrel project this is my single most favourite item......ever!

......
........where I had developed a smouldering interest in early wheels this one poured on fuel and set the flames alight!*....
....
360mm Momo Flat Black Monza....
....I enquired about the availabilty of this wheel when I first saw it and was offered first refusal if it ever became available.........a year or so later, and good to his word, I had the opportunity to acquire this along with the genuine sun-bleached Momo 230 hub and original large Porsche crested horn push (pictured0....
....having only ever driven early cars with 380/400 wheels I'm still not 100% certain if I'm a 360/370/380 kinda guy but whichever way, this wheel is so gorgeous.....
....it's a keeper!

....if you like 380's you'll appreciate this.....
....a minty, mint
late 60's Formula 1 'Real Wheel', flat black 380 Momo....
.....funnily, this again was purchased with an original large crested push and genuine Momo 230 hub...I'm told it was once fitted to a Porsche 906 although appears to have had very little use...
....Karl Lugvigsen was the man behind bringing the 'Real Wheel' to the American market...a couple of interesting threads here....

This was bought from Sladey and restored by Jonathan, I know the patina from the leather is gone but it was perished. The aim was to recover and retain the scrapes and dents on the steel of the wheel and bring it back to life. I love it, not sure it will go on the car but its great to look at.

That is a brilliant idea. I'd like to shoot that book.
Darren, I think you are a saddo, but as a fellow saddo, I am enjoying this.
I have an early wood steering wheel that came with my 912. It's all original, all good and patinated / wabi-sabi whatever, like the Submariners that Jason sells. I'm not going to use it on my car (I will use the Prototipo that I bought back when I had my 911T), so I keep it on my bookshelf in my office to look at

Jamie, you are absolutely the man for the job. With contributions from Mike and Ferryman and others. It's a must-do

....now that would be cool!
I've always struggled with light, mood and feel when photographing early wheels; they're far more interesting than I can capture.......I even invested in a couple of cheapo light boxes but stll not getting there!...Like you said, sad!
A few more contribuions to the thread would be great.....doesn't have to be your own wheel, just images you've grabbed on your travels....
.....or even photos you've stolen!

....
....my Holy Grail.......
Early 370 Flat Black MoMo Prototipo.......they don't get any better than this!

known of one of those, great patina, solid porsche hub, original centre badge apparently originally fitted to a 908....far more expensive than I can imagine being feasible.........not on e bay or any other mass market either...!!
