here's the latest on bobs 356 (1st August 2005)

all painted (and detailed underneath etc) and part way through buildup

fresh out of the paintshop (but very dusty), as cool as it was looking, it just wasn't low enough. I didn't think we'd talk him into this one but a little bit of persuasion soon changed his mind!
Image
sure, lots of 356s look this way but that kind of altitude problem just doesn't cut the cheese in these parts
Image
it was more work than we at first thought but it was well worthwhile
Image
just gotta fit the 4" sprints and hit the road now ;)

After much head scratching and removal and refitting of engine, I have finally discovered the root of my oil leak. WOO HOO. :P
There was not only a crack in the case but a tiny hole in the oil cooler situated just above the crack in the case.
Just goes to show how much vibration goes on with the oil cooler.
So I bought a lovely new aluminium lightweight cooler.

Whilst cleaning the case generally, I discovered another crack on the underside of the case which had not leaked due to being stuffed with a chewing gum type substance. Running out of money by this time, so I got it welded locally for small amounts of money. Just looks a bit poo though.

Image

I also gave the body work a coat of Dinotrol to protect the fantastic paint job....lol

After so long fixing the thing, I got to drive it round the block today and it did feel goooooooooood.
I drove the 356 after the 996 and although the 996 clutch is not heavy, it did make the 356 clutch feel soooo light that for a moment I wondered if the cable had broken.

Now I have to submit the car to a dreaded MOT test....hee hee.

Theres a few pics on here http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread ... ost2762848

just rebuilding the engine bay at the minute but come up with some snags on exact placement of panels as the ones in had been mullered around so much.

i have almost totally cut out engine bay area inside, rebuilt sides and rear panel and have the engine tray and heat shield from KK to put in still although i would love to see others pics to compare before i actually do this

Cooooowell.....shout back atcha and thanks mad.
Yeah it was amusing to see each time I wondered past my car some one new taking a photo of it.
My girlfriends sister and brother in law couldn't believe it.
One of the best things about this car is that it manages to get people in london to talk to you. In fact anywhere in the country and people from all backgrounds.
356's are brill. 8)
