GFoS 2013

Post by PhilipB »

[quote="squirdan"]Some Porsche content from today:
A familiar car to DDK ... An original RSR... Sounded like it needed some cough medicine going up the hill though!

Image

We had one CD box fail on us and then discovered that the vent valve from the fuel tank was in the wrong way round. Fingers crossed we have it all fixed for tomorrow!

I was nonplussed by the sculpture, impressive engineering yes, but compared with previous sculptures, nothing special - and you could have put any three cars on top and it would have worked - it didn't represent the 911.
However...walking past at a particular angle, like the channel 4 logo it snapped into place and I got it - look through a circle formed by your fingers and it's an upside down VW badge!

Agree about the sculpture. It should have captured the shape of the 911 in some way. Maybe taking your Channel 4 logo idea maybe it should only form the shape from one angle.

Not the best!

Love all the Bentley shots Jamie. The EXP Speed 8 has got to be one the coolest looking prototypes ever built.
The 2003 cars turn up at shows etc relatively frequently.

Don't think I've seen the 2001 cars since the '01 race.
Anybody kn ow where they are? Maybe disappeared into collectors' hands and been mothballed?

Shame, as the '01 car was the best looking IMO - a smoother front end and centrally supported rear wing - gave it text book poise.

I went on the Friday and had a good day wandering around. Certainly a lot of Porsche content all around the festival.

Started at the rally stage - even early Friday morning they were not holding back.

Lovely stuff Jamie :)

Good to see I wasn't the only person joining the photographic scrum at the jump in the rally stage Mark!

I'd have to agree - although it does depend on the route. On Sunday I came in along the A27 from the West and by 7.00am it was already properly jammed.

Son no. 1 and I were on two wheels, so a few minutes filtering and we were happily parked up in our secret spot near the house, but I did worry about all those classic soft tops in the queues with both car and passengers overheating in the sunshine.
