Guys, from one simple post about a body shell wanted, I can't believe how helpful you've all been! I have loads of pics from my chassis build so once I've learnt how to use this forum I will upload a build

No legal methods to avoid IVA unless you go with long wheelbase chassis.
There are those, i believe, who use old logbooks with very simple descriptions on them and clone the original car or just leave the logbook as was but you have to consider the consequences if there was a serious accident involving your vehicle...

Sounds like a bit of a can of worms has been re opened !!!!
I managed to get mine registered with my local DVLA as a built up vehicle, about a year before the SVA/ IVA started to include speedsters. I believe it was a grey area back then, but I understand that it is pretty cut and dried now ?????
That said, I see there are a couple of dealers selling new speedsters on Ebay that dont appear to have gone through IVA. Like I said can of worms !!!!

He is often under a car or not within earshot of the phone ringing, so you have to just keep trying I'm afraid.
Facilities? I'd say he has all the facilities needed to supply anything from the components you need to make your own car in kit form to all the facilities he needs to supply a complete turnkey car. Only facility he hasn't got is someone to answer the phone

Their workaround - which I should have also mentioned - is to title the car in the USA in a friendly state as an original 1957 Porsche and then bring it into the UK on the back of that title.
Again, not sure I'd want to do that....

Does that mean they would be MOT exempt as well, due to them being pre 1960 ????
