Welcome to the forum. I think next to Porsche and vdubs, landies would be high up the list of things we like
No golf here but there are a few that seem to be into horologists (which I thought was watching birds rather than watching watches)

The VIN is stamped into the sheetmetal in the front compartment (under the bonnet) just behind the fuel tank on the lhs.
It's also stamped on the aluminium VIN plate which is riveted to the front latch panel (again visible when the bonnet's opened).

That'll be interesting, mine has been flat/slant nosed. Bonnet latch is a bit of a mess.

Hi,
There's some info on Pelican about re-covering a targa top, a good read. I've tried to do mine twice now and still not happy, but I made the mistake of stripping it completely. Advice is to strip only the cover, and leave all the inner gubbins in place otherwise its hard to get the tension right.
Welcome to DDK

Tim

There is a sticky somewhere.
Host it on another site (photobucket, flickr, etc). Use the "IMG" button and copy the link into the post.

Hi, welcome to DDk, Malpassi make a fuel regulator, coupled with a fuel filter. Quite a few cars here on DDk have them fitted.

Thanks Lightweight 911 thats just what i needed. I was looking for a metal plate riveted on. The first five numbers are 11221 think next is a zero but it has been hit/beaten then turned rusty, last three numbers are292. So its 11221?292. The fuel pump is where you said. It is sat in a protective frame BUT there are no nuts attached holding the pump to the frame-possibly been messed about with. It does not look new or tampered with but the car has been sat for a long time. More i think about, the more it seems to make sense about the pressure being too high. I have a solis state pump somewhere amongst my just incase items, i will try running the engine on that.
Impmad 2000. Thanks for the info. I found that earlier this week and was intending to look at it later. Unfortuneately the Targa roof has come just as a frame and some plates which isin very good condition. Where did you obtain the covering? Are there internal and outer coverings/
Next Saga. One of the fuel pump acceleration injectors that squirt fuel down the throat of the carbs on throttle opening has broken off. I have managed to get the broken bit out of the body with a wood screw, just need another injector with a 30 stamped on the top
How do i post Photos onto the Forum

If you take another look at the VIN stamping, you should find that there's a '9' as the first digit.
This could make the full VIN: 911 221 0292
- which would actually make it a 1972 911E Targa !

To post pictures here you need to have them 'hosted' somewhere else (such as Flickr, etc) then put the particular photo's image code between [img]and[/img] tags in your post.
See here for a more detailed explanation:

I got my Targa cover from Pelican, and bought some other parts at the same time.
I'll have to see if I have some pictures of the targa top stripped back.
