I'm having to resort to going in my 'daily' (Passat Estate) so you wouldn't be the only non-Porsche driver on the trip ...

Well done that man. Got my MOT last week, need to check a few things and then ready for the drive to Hull on Thursday

i'll see if i can find a hotel nearby with spaces; there's no room at the ddk inn
Congrats on the MOT Ian, always a good feeling getting things done last minute
we rebuilt a mates beetle engine a week before going to cornwall in it, but due to unforseen technical issues only got it back in the car and running about 11pm the night before the trip.. i didn't plan that too well; 8hrs "running in" all the way to cornwall was a trip that in hindsight i would rather have avoided

Makes me laugh how late us classic car guys leave it.
When we did the RGruppe 10th Ann treffen to California Chris and I were still wiring up the dashboard at midnight...5 hrs before departure!

It might help if you put the bonnet down

Don't think the neighbours were too impressed at 11pm when I was testing the throttle response. It's drivable, but I'll let you know tomorrow after Bob has waved his wand.

i know this isn't the question you were asking, but..
after 4hrs of hammering, swearing, sweating, and drinking 7 cans of diet coke.. the rear wheel bearings are replaced, the suspension is set to a more ferry-friendly height with new polybushes in the rear uprights, and the rear calipers are rebuilt and fitted with new brake pads!
just need to re-align it (tonight) do an oil-change and bleed the brakes (wednesday night) then should be good to go friday evening!
ferry is booked, monday taken off work.. i will catch up with you guys saturday morning at the hotel intime for the drive to spa
