I´ve had some progress over the last months.

Spare engine tear down and rebuild started






Heads done, new exhaust valves, valve guides



Case glas blasted (carefully and cleaned for hours)




Built and moved into a new garage

Back to the car, started stripping, first of with the front wings




Front suspension needs some TLC

My right side rear fender flare has lost it´s profile, Im guessing bondo so a new flare will be welded in.

The front end had seen it´s better days, Started by poppin up the covering gas tank support


It was missing the reinforcement brackets and the left side had actually been hit/twisted, hard to see with the naked eye but it has to repaired.



Sourced some new parts



Rear suspension out for refurbishment, KYB´s in the back, hence the former ride height




Starting to look a bit better after crawling, scraping and wire wheel grinding

This had to be done, spring is near, summer is coming up, this is my only sumer car I´ll have to speed up!

Here´s a update,Im enjoying almost every second of it. Looking back, it feels like Im over the worst parts! But still have some more tough panel fitment and precision work ahead!

I haven´t intoduced myself properly but as I stated in my first post, this is my first restoration. I have had the great fortune to have help my dad who learnt me the basics of welding and also from a tremendously competent swedish Porsche restorer.

My background is 2 wheeled, raced motocross since 5 years of age until 21 when I quit due to lack of motivation.. After a couple of years my petrol head started to itch and I found out that I had a thing for the 912 which I didn´t even know of since before.

So, 1000 hours later in the garage and 5-6 visits to the ER and lot´s of reading, discussing and support from my fantastic wife to be I feel pretty confident. This is a amateur resto but I am doing my best to do things "correct" from the beginning so I don´t need to learn everything over again. Which I probably will anyway in many cases but I have the ambition

The car is going to be 6603 gulf blue and mostly original but built to be used. Will run Recaro 1328 on drivers side and Britax harness while original seat on passenger side. Might put in a roll bar but that will have to wait a little, Im getting married in august so my fundings I have a spare engine which is almost complete for putting together, everything measured, cleaned and ready except P/C and main bearings (standard), haven´t decided quite which route to go with it yet, might build it with a little extra power or just go stock.. But it´s put on hold until im happily married and honeymooned =)

DDK has been a huge help along the way(still is), loads of fantastic resto´s on here which I have studied for hours and hours.

I like others have been following your thread with interest and i am in awe with what you have done ,it looks a very professional job .I wish i had the skills to tackle such a project .Good luck and keep posting .I must take you up on one point ......happily married .....theres two words do not go together .it is either one or the other ...trust me 41 years experience

Here´s a little update


The project is progressing but its very time consuming for a first timer!

Front slam panel tacked in place



Welded the front inner wheel well back together after straightening it out.



Media blasted fender areas where I couldn´t reach with a flap disc.

Rear quarter repairs



Panel fitting, not the easiest task! I have huge respect for everyone who has done this correct, takes a lot of patience and time! Mine aren´t perfect but i´ll fill the rocker with 2mm lead and hope to have nice uniform gaps after that.
