Excellent For the R8 "S"....very nice....french car....it's just before the GORDINI....excellent alternative !
For the "DAUPHINE", it's a 1093 version, more rare than GORDINI !

What a great car. There used to be one raced at Prescot hillclimb by a brummie, Sav Sacco I think in French Blue.
Will you keep it though?

Luv it! My dad bought an R4 which I drove from Pittsburgh to NYC with my lover (now wife of 41 years). We loved that little red Renault!

Interestingly the rear engine renaults have a lot in common with porsche, ww2 louis renault studied the Beetle and concept of Ferdinand Porsche rear engine car, he forseen after the war a small cheap mass produced car will be needed and secretly built a prototype in Billancor under the Nazi at the time, I believed the two actualy met? both men having alot in common, Renault was inturned after the war as a collaborator and died the car company being nationalised the secret car was produced as a 750cc 4cv in uk it was known as a 750, the Dauphine and 8 are decentants of porsche thinking
have owned a few of the above tin worm the biggest problem nice car

Last saw Salv at Prescott hillclimb French Day a few years ago in his R8 Gordini, just great.
Your car struck me when you first sent the pics, really unusual and very good looking.

I sold it at the end of last year. It was quite fun, but I discovered I wasn't a French car person, and I never enjoyed driving it as much as I enjoyed looking at it. Whilst the rear-engined Renaults share some common concepts with Porsche, the two really couldn't be any more dissimilar in their execution.
Good to have owned, but I don't miss it one bit. It was an absolutely superb example - widely acknowledged as one of the best 8s in the UK (and rare too - one of only three 'S' models left on the road, and I think the only one with it's original 1108cc engine). Nice to know it went on to a good home.
