I am not worried about numbers matching, given that my car is now modified from original, but finding an 'honest' engine is the key, Not one from a garage corner with dubious history etc. as that is surely just a rebuild candidate, but rather get one with a known history and ownership. I have seen them range from £2.5K - £3.5K and sometimes with a 915 attached.

I would like to build my original in to something better, maybe 2.2S pistons, cams and heads, but that is a skilled undertaking and has the associated rebuild costs attached.

'Swapping' a 3.0 for the 2.4 could be done very affordably, with limited other parts needed, and there being a good value in the resale of the 2.4.

Nothing decided, and certainly need to get the bodywork mods. done first for me.

Have you considered a 3ltr mfi ?, its very do-able on a SC base but you need new pistons & cams .have the heads done and you are nearly there !!. Probable cost inc engine if you do yourself is about 10 to 12k depending on what you reuse from the donor.Much better bang per buck than a major rebuild on your original

270bhb on SSI and very little weight difference.Very very driveable and you are picky to pick up the visual differences except maybe the engine type no.ohh and the sound at full chat on twin outlet is just..........
