John
Thanks. The Targa mystery continues.
Do you have any information on the difference in spec , if any,
between the '76 MFI and the '74/'75 MFI Carreras ?

The subject car in the thread is not mine. Also, take note of what Fryardds posts in this thread. He does a good job of explaining it all.

Thanks for the link.
Fryardds sets out 12 different specs on the 1976 MFI Carrera
"unless those options were ordered".
But 9 of those are either standard or options on the '74/'75 MFI Carreras.
That leaves only 3 peculiar to the '76 MFI Carrera :

Manual windows
Less soundproofing
Welded in plates for the rollbar on the rear longitudinals.

The "H" series '75 MFI Carrera was also fully galvanised.

As the 123 coupes were homologated for the 1976 season
it does not follow that they were designated RS.

I am not going to get pulled into the RS, or not RS, debate. My ad title points to my view. But, what I will tell you is that Dr. Georg K and I have talked at length about this specific car of mine and he listed it as an 'RS' on occation. He also made a point of saying that these are very special cars. And this from a guy that has RSR's, RS light weights, early Turbos, ect. that he owns and are listed on his web site.

There are alot of little things that are different. I drew the correlation in a previous post between the later Carrera CS and a normal Carrera. One example of this - You have to inspect the carpet in person. It's different. Lighter weight and different material with no heal pad at the pedals. Don't think anyone has ever mentioned that. They never had, or even seen, one in person to know. The transmission is LSD by default - and not a Euro spec unit at that. No auto heat. The speedo is a mechanical unit not electric...
