Thanks for this lead, i am looking into this further. But i am worried about getting DDK involved with anything thats going to bring with it Rules,regulations & red tape.

How about the previous link Helen and taking it out event by event as and when required?

to be honest Bootsy if the only reason we need Public Liability insurence is so we can errect the Gazebo. then i think we are better off not using the Gazebo.( for the time being anyway)


But there does seem to be added benifits in taking out a year long policy for DDK. namely we would be covered for other meets,gatherings and Rallys.

i have a few leads i am looking into. costs/coverage seems to varie greatly so it might take a bit of time to make sure its the right policy for us.

Once we do anything in public as DDK you will need public liabilty insurance. If we have a display of DDK cars, and someone trips and hurts themselves on part of one of the cars, they are liable to sue. It's an unfortunate fact of life these days.
I have spent 30 years doing Agricultural shows, and had to have insurance, risk assessments etc for them. We even had to have warnings that the grass may be slippy if wet.....................

Luckily we never had a problem, but it is unwise not to be covered. If there is no club cover, the individual members are next in line

Looks llike it was the federation not confederation - error due to the passage of 15 years!! 35p per member per year. As far as I know this includes public liability but we would have to double check. things may have changed in 15 + years!!!

ok, i seem to be getting nowhere fast with this.
if someone who knows more about this than me could take over this problem i would be very grateful.


the federation of motor clubs (or what ever they call themselves) are supost to be sending me forms and info but haven't


Hagerty sent me forms to apply for a quote but they are for us organising a major show of our own NOT just for general club cover,


i am now just getting miffed off with it all.

thought £60-70 per show just for putting up a gazebo was taking the pee ??


the average DDK turnout for a show is proberly about 5 cars, so thats over £10 each on top of your entrance fee.

as pointed out by someone earlier, DDK needs cover now for every time a few of us meet up as DDK.
and as some DDKer is proberly doing some show or meet somewhere everyweek-end and often during the week too. how the hell would we keep it up to date?

Surely it's required for meets and events where the public are being admitted. The majority of car shows charging entrance fees will be required to have their own pli which should cover clubs in attendance? Are duxford saying they haven't and pli is a requisite for any club in attendance?

but if we attned shows as a club and want our own club stand then we are responsable for that area.


as i said i am really not the person to be looking into this as i haven't got a clue what i am doing.


BTW for DDK to join the Federation of British Historic Vehicle clubs (of which i see many advantages to us doing) it would cost 52.5p per member.

you just need to have an idea of how many shows per year there will be Where DDK have their own Exhibitor stand and the public will be allowed entrance. I have looked at annual policies before but for only approx 3 shows per year have found it cheaper using the above two online companies than taking out an annual policy.
