Hi all,

Its me again. I noticed from your nice mails some wanted a little history on me and my 356. Well I used to do paper round as boy in the middle 50's and cycled every day past AFN Frazer Nash as you know an importer of our cars. In about 58 I looked longingly through the plate glass window at a new "A". The price then was around the £2,000 mark and I was making then about 3 and sixpence a week. ( old money of course)

I liked the shape so much it stuck and when my brother started working for AFN the devil bought a 51 split screen coupe for £110- all running in 1967 and it turned me green.

By 1969 I was toolmaking and had enough to look at many rusty 356's
but stuck out and bought the 59 Meissen blue super75 for £440- so the car has now been with me for 40 years.

Of course, I have kept thankfully the car as original as possible but still had to do a lot of work all myself over these years. It still has all matching numbers and runs every week around the area I live near Bognor Regis. ( only time ever to a garage touch wood is for the MOT )

To keep the car okay over this time it was only used every day for a short time, I bought other 356's over the years including a 52 bent screen and a 356C. My brother also has had a number of 356's and 911's. I have 3 sons and 2 of them currently run Boxsters.

I like working on the "A" and generally you can do most things yourself if you have the right books or the correct advice. Forum help pages can really assist on that point.

I will put some photo's together and post them now that you kind fellows have helped me to see my visual typing mistakes.

I used to work opposite AFN in the late '60's/early '70's ('69-'76) - at Unilever Research labs in London Road, Isleworth.

what a wonderfull looking car My fav 356's are A's

thats the best explanation of posting photos on here that I've seen. I'm tempted to try again myself.

Below as promised I am posting some pics of my car. The first one is from the second owner taken in 1960. He told me a lot about my car nice chap. The second photo is from 1969/ early 70. It shows a young me holding my eldest son. Couldn't do it know he is 40 and quite heavy!
The others were taken last year and show views of the car.
As I mentioned before its a driver and actually photographs very well. In the flesh you can of course see normal wear and tear.

Wow, what a lovely car. Nice to see just a nice condition, frequently used 356 in a cracking colour combo that isnt over-restored or over-accessorised. Great original plate too. We're all Meissen Blue with envy..
