It's all a bit complicated and to be honest a bit vague. The factory was supposed to shut every August for two weeks and the new model year started after that but obviously new model development went on before Aug (ask Nick Moss re his fraise T which is a March 71 !!! build 72 model).
Just to compound matters someone posted on the early S registry that in some years in the 60's the main German holiday switched to July.
We will never be 100% sure unless we know the exact holiday dates from the factory itself for each year. We can't even trust build date of the 001 chassis number for each model year because it wasn't necessarily the first car off the production line!!
Regards
Mike

This is going up for sale again
It's going on Pistonheads in a few days but..
1968 (MY) Karmann built SWB 911T Sportomatic. Full matching numbers confirmed by Porsche Club GB/Porsche Germany and UK. 76,000 miles. PCGB have confirmed that this is the 5th to 8th UK Sporto (5 built on 2nd October 1967) and 3rd UK Sporto in T spec. First registered November 23rd 1967, last tax disk expired at end of September 1982. Originally Sand Beige, black vinylette interior. Elephant hide door panels.
Currently unregistered but all documentation in place for re-registry with original number of OYO 5F
Good Bits
The interior (exc carpets) is useable. The dash is great and has no crack. Bulkheads, Doors, bonnet and boot lid are good. Trim apparently complete except for horn covers and front bumper. Engine turns over.
Bad bits
Everything else: the body looks like it needs a complete rebuild – torsion tube is gone, as is rear offside inner wing. Assume sills…
Reason for sale.
Bought as heart ruled head. Cost of having someone else restore it to the standard I’d want exceeds what I am willing/able to put into it (and what it would be worth once done). If you are a handy with a spanner and welding torch, the restoration would be more cost effective. Selling this project as head is taking over heart. Would hate to see this early Sporto broken
AlanUK has the car at the moment.
