I'm going to take the engine out next week - Monday with any luck. The car is at the office in Teddington. Fortunately we have just negotiated garage space on site so at least we can do it in the dry! It will be a lunch hour job - 1pm, so if you're really desperate for something to do then feel free to pop along and I'll be happy to provide lunch! :)

Teddington I think I know that area I had a BBQ Kitchen from there. I had 2hrs to clear it and take it away once they finished filming the Kitchen for the new B&Q add. It's in my sisters house now    you've never seen a Merc Spinter so loaded in such a short period of time

2 hrs
2 blokes
2 battery drills
one sprinter and 6 cups of tea!!

Hey Max - if you're really bored on Monday lunchtime then I'll be happy to treat you to a coffee and sandwich if you fancy coming to the office and supervising!

Engine is out! Took three of us (so we were very careful to check everything at each step) and an hour from start to finish. Monday I will strip the exhaust and heat exchangers off plus the tray and then get it to James Goldstraw who is going to do the rebuild.

Woohoo! :)

Sounds like you had as much fun as me then Max! Any luck with the premises yet? Obviously it's not urgent now, but if you can let me know when you've dug out those air filter bases, then I'll pop by and get them so I'm all ready for when the engine is finished! :)

Yep, having a barn converted into a custom built workshop/storage unit - Had a meeting with the builders earlier in the week. Should be cool .

Found those filter bases, let me know when you're next passing & I'll leave them out for you :)
