when you know the difference it's easy I have not read all the posts but

lower head lights on the real 356's
Centre Tunnel
Normaly engine in speedsets apart from being a beetle unit normaly has missing tin wear
Wheels are normaly 4 stud and VW wheel caps
Sight wave in the body paint surface as I have not seen a rep that has got the paint ( body ) surface that perfect yet. Mine was close but not perfect in any way.
VW door locks on some cars
One kit is a 4 seater version
Beetle exhaust
Bumpers are closer to the body on the reps ( something to do with SVA's)

but all I can say having owned one is that they are great fun and a true 50's style car to drive I really enjoyed driving mine ( a few years back now ) I don't know where it went in the end ?? not seen it come back

Oh and I recomend the seats Andy posted up from Martin Walker mine where trimed in Grey leather and where so comfortable I never had backache in any way.. Real nice..
