Yes, your memory serves you well. I remember writing a bizarre stock control and paper round delivery system for a chain on Newagents who bought these machines for each branch (about £600 at the time and around 1984 I think) I was 13!

Thanks Tom - but as my wife points out (:shock:) I never did the whole university sex, drugs and rock and roll thing

ahh yes, but the grass is always greener

well I never did the computer thing ( too busy out riding my BMX & building dens ) but did do the university, sex, drugs & rock & roll which is why I look so tired & worn out & now prefer a quiet beer

I used to review games for it in return for free cassettes and also competed in their UK arcade champion series - my father had an amusement arcade and I was a bit of a video games junkie!

I remember trying to input one of the 'games' in the back of that mag. Every month they used to print pages of code to enter I NEVER ever got one to work which .. what a waste of 3 hours typing / inputing

Oh dear oh dear: it was not long ago that the DDK membership were outraged by an accusation of 'being a bunch of computer nerds'.

I can't help but notice that out of the blue there's been a competitive dash to out-geek one another.

Must remember to copy this thread across to another well-known Porsche forum (club espionage).

Ah! The Spectrum with it's dead flesh keyboard.
Mine got toasted when the 32k plug in RAM pack (wow! a mega total 48k) & plug in Kempston joystick port all got a bit loose playing an exciting Daly Tompson's Decathlon (I think) - Fpzzt! followed by the smell of fried silicon.
Meant I could upgrade to a C64 - with a proper keyboard. Then you could roll a golf ball over the keys to cheat in DTD.
One of my all time favourite games was JetPac.

I started off with a ZX81. Ahhhh. 3D Maze was a classic!
I'd spend Saturday afternoons slavishly copying BASIC games code printouts in computer mags...
Only to spend all day Sunday debugging the code to make the magic RUN command do something
without a GOSUB error

But did anyone have a BBC Micro and the classic REVs? First of the true simulators (as opposed to
the arcade experiences the conoles offer these days):

Believe me, it is no game!
With a decent PC and feedback steering wheel, its the closest you'll get to the real thing.

Pistonheads have their own league team. If anyone is interested, we could put a DDK team together...
