ok, rough idea for sub-frame, this is based on the pilgrim speedster subframe only slightly simpler in design...basic boxed chassis, the main problem with not having it permanently bonded to the chassis is that theres no way the brace that supports the steering colum can be in place before the shell is fitted if i'm keeping the fibreglass trans tunnel and some of the floors...obviously if i decide to do away with them it becomes easier...if not my plan is a bolt in brace that can be situated after the body is down...not sure if this is a good idea? obviously it could be welded in place but would be a p[ain if i wated to lift the body off again for whatever reason
the rest of the frame is pretty straight forward, it would then give me good solid mounts for the door hinges and door latches etc...what i was also thinking is that i could actually make the front airducts work rather than being just a design statement by hooking them up and running them through the sub chassis and exiting through the firewall or wherever is best for engine cooling? is that a good idea or am i getting ahead of myself! haha :D
also i was thinking in terms of constructing it, i would make a mock up in wood first to get it perfect then relicate it in steel?
