The white GT (the first pics) belongs to Jeff Moyes (AFN Guildford)

I have never seen pics of a factory 'flatnose' '14 - didn't look too bad - would be better with big arches but hey I'm biased!

next time I speak to Jeff, I'll ask

the car was hill climbed in period in Austria as I recall - Jeff told me that the original owner wanted a 911 but the factory persuaded him to buy the 914 instead. Jeff bought it minus a few bits and pieces - and used a spare twin plug engine he had.

Ian,

that would be great! I only know of 2 GTs from Austria, both built from the racing division from Porsche Austria (they were well known and really successful in the 70ies).
The first was a 914-4 that was previous raced as a 4-cyl car and then got converted to a full 914-6 GT (by Porsche Austria). This car still sits in Austria.
The second one was a real 914-6 that got converted to a GT. Porsche Austria only ran it one or two races and then sold it. Unfortunately they have no more documents from this time and so it's lost without a trace ...

Would be too cool if this is the white car

Speaking of 914-6 - has anybody got the latest issue of Excellence?

An ornage (with burners) 914-6 Sportomatic! Now, how rare is that - apparently the only one out there!

914-6 Sportomatics are really rare, but there are some.
This spring I saw an original one at the Munich fair:

Image

the guy next to the car (with the blue shirt and the white beard) owns the car for about 30 years - he's the second owner
it's a very early '71 car

AutoAtlanta (Georg Hussey) has one too: 914.1.43.0163

about 2 years ago there was a blue MY'71 for sale in Germany

another orange car (restoration object) sits in Sweden

AFAIK there's no officially proofed number, but most sources name about 25 built 914-6 Sportomatics

Any 914-4 Sportos?

I remember seeing a blue French registered /6 sporto in Beaulieu for the international meet in 02 - they are pretty rare....

Pretty damn sure that the sporto wasn't an option for /4s - would make an interesting project - where's Barry's no.??
