I've just done the 'looking for another Porsche for 10K'. Its a difficult price point because it lies in a 'no-mans land'.

I was very tempted with a nice 914, but love the sound of a flat 6 too much. Almost bought a 968 CS, but most are asking too much money & they lacked soul. Some nice impact bumper 911's around that price point.

In the end I bought a MK1 MAzda MX5 for a LOT less money Now they are fun cars . I am lucky though that I have the 2.4S too.

IMHO, I'd save a bit more money & get an early 911, maybe a nice 73 T or similar

I know what you mean, I've been looking around on t'interweb, plenty of fat bumpered cars out there for that price and not much else.

I think I'd need about 3-4k more for an nice early 911, might be my only option.

I have the funds, but it in my 'special pension funds' I have difficulty dipping into that as I don't like working and want to retire asap

But then again a nice early 911 is an investment, or so I keep telling myself.

Nige, you'd buy a nice clean SC for under £10k and then some serious lightening is cheap and easy. Impact Bumpers are nothing to be embarassed about mate

I'm running a fat bumpered car anyway John, not embarrased, if I ever manage to sell the car I think I'd go for a 3.2 carrera, run it for a few years then maybe do some back dating. Although I'd still prefer an earlier car.

You can buy cheap early cars Nige, I did. .... Not necessarily a good investment though ! Choose carefully

noted Tim, been there before with lesser cars, not again, I certainly don't have the time these days

I'm in no rush, the 912e is running great and I'm enjoying it on a daily basis.
