I can (just about) get the attraction of some of the hot-rods in this thread to a small band of DDKers but I really can't understand the appeal of these recent 'box saloons' ...

Way back I had my first, in 1973, a Y Type 8HP 2 door saloon, 1937 and it was simply great. I was 21 an a free spirit.
Maybe just a product of my avid interest (then) in drag racing, the USA trends and that all my mates has similar cars or big USA cars.
My second one was a model A Tudor Ford, 1930, a real USA steel body with Ban the Bomb paintings on it when I got it in the early 80's.
The hot rod thing had changed a lot, I had too, married and with a family, so after about 20 years I fell out of hot rods and bought my 911 in 88.
Like with many things, it does or does not appeal; my interest is still 'strong'.
These saloons have a real appeal but not so much as the coupes.
