No, that’s all untouched as per factory. I’ve repaired ahead of that around the bumper mounts but the tank support is one of the few remaining original bits!

I got paranoid one of (double battery) the exposed positive terminals would touch the body and cause a short circuit, so I covered over the positives with thick black tape. Also, my centre straps are just about still in place and working. Without those connected the batteries fall into the boot upon cornering.

Decided to fit the big balls and get the holes drilled for the mirror. I went from the inside with a 1mm drill then opened the holes with a drill bit in my hand from the outside.

Spot of grease in the holes and on with the newly polished mirror.

Now I can get back to wiring!

Wow, amazing progress. Sorry I couldn't help with the hole positions, I welded mine up last week!

Nope. One is enough!

I have found driving mine that the single left hand mirror (same as yours) is not sufficient for driving. You're welcome to come and take a drive if you like. Partly because the glass is flat rather than convex, and in mine the headrests block your view when looking over your shoulder. I have bought a pair of matching aftermarket mirrors for both sides to which I will fit convex glass. I thought I'd mention it now while you're putting the car together because those right hand mirrors to match the one you have are pricey or likely difficult to come by, and in case you need to drill both doors.

It maybe in bits at the moment, but I’ve done probably 60k miles in this car and never wanted for that other mirror.

Motorway overtakes are bit of a lottery, but just make sure you are driving faster than everyone else and it’s all good

I like your thinking; I'll give that a try: Accelerator, signal, maneouvre.

Ironically Gary, I find motorway easier in lhd car than rhd as looking over my shoulder you see way more …. But then everyone knows I think lhd aircooled are better anyway .

If you remember …. Only visability issues I have are trying to see hidden French crossroads straight in front of me

Luckily I’m in a really stable mental state at the moment otherwise realising I fed the wiring harness down the wrong hole at the back of the tunnel would really upset me…

Got to all come out again from the fuse box rearwards including the battery cable…
