I have an 1960 MGA roadster that I will never part with (learnt to drive in it and my first ever car) so started off in the British iron dept. Always fancied a TR4 or 5 and that one looks amazing Barry Definitely one of the better/best ones out there.

Rod (the coachbuilder) looked over it the other day, and echo'ed the above sentiments. So all in all, I'm now more of a mind to try to sell it myself and go for decent dollar.

Had a brilliant drive in it last night: first one that I had really enjoyed, I think because it's all settling in quite well, and I'm beginning to relax with it a bit.

Although the hard-top roof is to be completed, the car has now sold, subject to everything going through O.K. Therefore, need to get the roof finished, and a few final odds and sods doing, plus some mods to help the new owner fit into it a bit easier.

I didn't get what it was up for by quite a way, but given the time of year and the need to move it on, I'm happy. Fingers crossed it all completes O.K.

I'll put some final, final pics up before it goes.

Yes, I thought I'd give my mate Bern a run for his money .

TBH, I'd be quite happy just to end up with the daily-driver (elderly 325TDS Touring) plus the 911. If the cappo ends up staying though, it won't be a disaster by any means.

Franky it's a bit of a bind having cars everywhere, and I just fancy a pruning of the fleet. Having said that, I sort of keep thinking of suplementing the Ducati 200GT cafe Racer with the real-deal, and find another Guzzi LeMans I . We'll see, in the meantime there's more than enough to fill my days in the workshop, plus there're some really interesting Vintage projects about to start including a replica of a 1930 Riley racing car, number two Austin Twin Cam Rep racing single seater, Type 35 replica body, plus longer term, a Type 57 body ( ). So that's the next few weekends taken care of .

Well done on the sale Barry - the new owner is going to be a very lucky man indeed.

Having seen that car before, during and after it's restoration in the flesh, the finished product is a testament to your abilities. Bet you almost wish you'd kept the Hornet now...

Now sold: Surrey top was completed with just hours to go . No picts I'm afraid, as it was pouring with rain this morning.

Anyway, as of today, it's now down in it's new garage near Goodwood, and the new owner phoned me this afternoon to say that it had made it back safe, well and happy .

I only just noticed (after reading Ian's post above) that the Hornet has gone too - when was that ?

That was a couple of months ago. I've got so much work either booked in, or highly likely, that it was looking increasingly unlikely that I'd get onto the Hornet for quite a while.

It just happened that someone came into Rod's (vintage coachbuilder) workshop, looking for something just like it. A deal was struck, and that was that. I'm still doing one day a week (sats) on the vintage cars anyway, so am getting my 'proper' coachbuilding fix anyway.

As it happens, the new owner is cracking on with it, and getting on well, so it's worked out well all round. Longer term, I may consider doing a Riley special of some sort, but only when I get my garage back .
